St Mark's church and Stapleton Road station

Some pictures of St Mark's church gargoyles and Stapleton Road station. The church is now sheltered housing. This is the south face of the tower, I think.

Stapleton Road station used to be much more important and was Bristol's main railway station for a while.
The mural (painted by a local artist called Bill Guilding who has included himself in the painting) has been there for a few years now and is surviving very well. The newspapers show stories of significant local events. They had been vandalised but are now restored.

The scenes also show immigrants arriving in Britain in the sixties (Easton has lots of different ethnic groups).
The cricketer is Dr W.G. Grace, a famous Victorian cricketer, who lived in Downend but practised medicine in Stapleton Road.

Final photos are of Old Man's Beard (clematis) on the station and a view of a shop in St Mark's road.
